Trinidad and Tobago Blind Welfare Association

Health and Safety Management

In July of 2019, the Trinidad and Tobago Blind Welfare Association (TTBWA) reached out to us to provide guidance on structuring their HSE Committee. Their Challenge was developing a system to effectively manage the Health and Safety needs of the organization.

Advanced EHS Concepts (AEHS) took the decision to volunteer our services to the TTBWA and began the process by providing guidance on the formation of an HSE Committee, which is a legal requirement under the OSH Act of Trinidad and Tobago.

An HSE Committee guidance procedure was developed and a committee formed which created a forum for employee – management interaction to mitigate HSE issues.

AEHS extended its services to the TTBWA again in January of 2020 where we facilitated a physical inspection of their south office. AEHS led an inspection team that identified unsafe conditions throughout the facility and developed a report which included mitigation measures.

Today we can definitely see the growth in the TTBWA’s HSE Committee as they independently work on improving their HSE Culture.

At AEHS we believe that assessing risks involving blind and partially sighted people does not have to be a daunting task.  It was our pleasure to work with the team at the Blind Welfare Association to build a foundation to effectively manage their HSE issues and we will always make our team available to provide support.
